Heat rash or prickly heat

What is heat rash or prickly heat?

Heat rash occurs when sweat ducts become blocked due to excess sweating and inadequate evaporation of this moisture from the body.

This can result in papules or small blisters. In more severe cases, inflamed papules and an intense prickling sensation may occur. The condition is aggravated by anything that stimulates sweat production.

Avoid soap, which can aggravate the condition, and use a soap-free cleanser instead. Topical treatments can also help to relieve symptoms.
